Will your Anchor Hold? StJAnchor

Members past and present of 2nd Gourock Company of the Boys' Brigade celebrated their 105th birthday last weekend with a re-union dinner on Saturday 1st March followed by a church parade to St.John's Church Gourock on Sunday 2nd March.

The highlight of the weekend of celebration was the dedication of a full size BB Anchor by Rev Jill Clancy which has been permanently positioned within the church grounds. Company Captain Alan Aitken said "We hope the St.John's Anchor becomes as famous a local landmark as Granny Kempock Stone and acts as a source of spiritual inspiration and pleasure to the townsfolk of Gourock and beyond".

The Anchor was the personal project of Mr George Turner, an officer in the Company.

The Company would like to thank the Kirk Session and Deacons Court of St.John's for their support in bringing this project to fruition.
